Harlequins is in its 5th decade and things are on up. Thanks to your support this year has seen a 50% increase in Junior numbers with Under 7’s through to Under 16 boys completing in Illawarra, Under 18 boys competing in the Sydney competition and Under 14 & 16 girls in both the Sydney & Illawarra competitions.
On the senior front - our men's numbers have doubled this year and we have seen our Lady Harlequins successfully return to Sydney First Division. This is all due to support such as yours.
The Club is providing pathways for players to both Illawarra & Country Juniors and Seniors. We have 6 junior players in the NSW Gen Blue program and last year Jackson Ropata went from Campbelltown Harlequins to represent Australian Under 20’s. The highlight of this year has been the selection of Atasi Lafai, and Sally Fuesaina in the Australian Wallaroos.
We now have other programs in place for disadvantaged youth, for example actively taking part in the organisation of Koori Rugby participation in Pacifika tournaments, providing financial assistance where needed to those players who go on to representative honors. We also provide facilities and services to other organisations such as the Sydney Fiji Junior Rugby for their competition and development programs.
Harlequins pride ourselves on being active members of the local community. We are a community based organisation and in the last 15 years through the seeking of appropriate grands, fundraising and volunteer labour our club have spent over $1mill on the development of ground and facilities that has been donated back to the greater community for usage buy school & community groups during the week.
